Stochastic Modelling to Assess External Environmental Drivers of Atlantic Chub Mackerel Population Dynamics

چکیده

The population dynamics of small and middle-sized pelagic fish are subject to considerable interannual interdecadal fluctuations in response fishing pressure natural factors. However, the impact environmental forcing on these stocks is not well documented. Moroccan Atlantic coast characterized by high variability due upwelling phenomenon, resulting a significant abundance variation catches species. Therefore, understanding evolution stock its relationship with different oceanographic conditions key issue for fisheries management. because limited availability independent-fishery data along coast, there lack knowledge about dynamics. main objective this study test correlation between environment trends estimated assessment model that does need biological information growth, reproduction, length or age structure as input. To achieve objective, fishery analyzed stochastic surplus production able assimilate from surveys landings biomass trend estimation. Then, second step, outputs correlated (physical biogeochemical) variables order assess influence drivers This two-step procedure applied chub mackerel where all available datasets have been used together before. analysis performed showed larger estimates linked periods lower salinity, higher chlorophyll, net primary production, nutrients, subsurface oxygen, i.e., an enhanced strength upwelling. In particular, acute anomalies observed southern part presumably corresponding wintering area species region. results indicate powerful procedure, although important limitations, deepen our spatiotemporal relationships area. Moreover, once identified, they could be generate mathematical simulate future diverse scenarios.

Population Structure of Atlantic Mackerel (Scomber scombrus)

Atlantic mackerel (Scomber scombrus) occurs on both sides of the north Atlantic and has traditionally been grouped into 5 spawning components, some of which were thought to be isolated natal homing stocks. Previous studies have provided no evidence for cross Atlantic migration and no or weak support for isolated spawning components within either side of the North Atlantic. We question the de-fa...

Stochastic functional population dynamics with jumps

In this paper we use a class of stochastic functional Kolmogorov-type model with jumps to describe the evolutions of population dynamics. By constructing a special Lyapunov function, we show that the stochastic functional differential equation associated with our model admits a unique global solution in the positive orthant, and, by the exponential martingale inequality with jumps, we dis...

Population dynamics of the Spanish mackerel (Scomberomorus commerson) in coastal waters of Oman Sea

Length composition data of narrow-barred Spanish mackerel, Scomberomorus commerson (Lacepede 1800), landed between April 2002 to March 2004, were monthly used to estimate the growth, mortality and exploitation parameters of the stock. Maximum fork length and weight were 170 cm and 38 kg, respectively. Nonlinear least square fitting provided a complete set of von Bertalanffy growth estimates: L¥...

Long-term transportation, by road and air, of chub mackerel (Scomber japonicus) and atlantic bonito (Sarda sarda).

During the second semester of 2009, three trips were made from Olhão (Southern Portugal) to Stralsund (Northern Germany) carrying 2.122 animals, which included multiple teleosts, elasmobranchs and invertebrates. This group included scombrids, such as 1.869 Scomber japonicus and 9 Sarda sarda, which are notoriously difficult to transport. However, multiple adaptations to transport regimes adopte...
